Philosophy of Ministry @ Connections Church

Rightful Ownership.  The church belongs to Jesus, not us.  We exist to love, worship, follow, and serve Him.

Dependence.  Our wisdom, strategies and hard work aren’t enough.  Although we strive to serve with excellence, we need the presence, power and movement of God to become and do what God desires.

Kingdom Perspective.  We are part of something bigger than ourselves, with a heritage that spans time, geography and traditions.  We don’t compete with other churches, but partner together when possible.

Missional Living.  Every follower of Jesus has a mission, story and gifts from God and is called to embody the love and message of Christ each day.  Much of our ministry happens outside of our programs and facilities as God scatters us around our city to work, live and play.

Evangelism & Discipleship.  We don’t have to choose one or the other as our focus.  Instead, we believe it is natural for those who follow Jesus to walk alongside others as they come to faith and grow to maturity in Him.

Shared Life.  We recognize the power of community and embrace our need for one another as companions on our journeys with God.  We want to move beyond pleasant familiarity and learn how to share our lives with and support each other.

Spiritual Journey.  Coming to faith in Jesus and learning to follow Him is a process that takes time and encompasses every area of our lives.

Unity & Diversity.  Our journeys with God, our ages and skin tones, our expressions of worship, etc., won’t all look the same.  We focus not on our differences, but on Jesus and seek to be unified around Him.

Justice & Mercy.  Jesus’ followers are called to serve those in need and those who can’t care for themselves, both locally and globally.

Relevancy.  God has placed us in this time and setting.  We strive to communicate and live timeless truths in ways that are meaningful to those God allows us to love and serve today.

Authenticity.  We see no benefit in pretending to be something we aren’t, and seek to be honest and transparent about who we are and how we are doing in our attempts to follow Jesus

Simplicity.  Sometimes less is more.  If we focus on the things that matter to God, we are doing enough.

Relationships.  At the end of the day, ministry is about people connecting with God and other people.  Programs and structures exist to facilitate and deepen those relationships- not replace them.
